Sausage was being sold on a well known website as a dangerous guard dog. His owners had asked for help from other rescues but were refused as he tended to bark and growl. DAS were contacted and Sue travelled to see him. She found a dog locked in a crate, barking furiously and growling , he was muzzled. She quickly realised that he couldn't be left in this situation. As Sue was in a position that she could foster him, she agreed to take him home with her. She opened the car boot and said hello for the first time properly to him. His muzzle was removed and they had a little walk and he was introduced carefully to Sue`s other dogs...wagging tails and a pierced ear later from her Dane Brie and everything was quiet. The most loving, friendly, cuddly dog has emerged from his living hell and 4 months of hard work with him, turned him into the dog he is now. His problems weren't helped by the way he was forced to live......remove those problems and the real dog slowly emerged. Sausage is now very settled in his new home and is adored by all the family : We will never refuse to help a so called 'problem' dog.
Chico, as he is now known, was placed in boarding kennels in his home country of Spain by his owners while they went on holiday. That was just over a year ago and they never went back for him, Its anyone's guess what would have happened to him if Setter Rescue hadn't contacted DAS, as the kennels that were looking after him needed to free up the space for their summer boarders. We immediately put Chico`s details on our Facebook page and a lovely family showed a great deal of interest in him. After a few discussions and the adoption process completed, we had him transported to the UK. He was soon in his new home where he has settled in really well. His new owners said "he is an absolute treasure". It goes without saying that Chico has never looked back.

Pretty Coco didn't have the best start in life, which led to her needing a new home at just 12 months old. She was in foster for a short while and came on in leaps and bounds. A family who were on our waiting list had lost their dalmatian to cancer in 2016 and saw her on our facebook page so they arranged to visit her.
